Step Into the Spotlight

Here’s how the CastBound Summer Program works

CastBound Studios’ Summer Program is built as a two-week intensive, thoughtfully supported by Sunday rehearsals over the 10 weeks leading up to camp.

Rehearsals begin in May, with weekly Sunday sessions designed to establish the foundation of the production. During this time, performers focus on ensemble-building, music, blocking, and storytelling — allowing the group to build confidence and cohesion well before the intensive begins.

Beginning in July, rehearsals expand to include both Sundays and Tuesdays, giving performers additional time to deepen the work and arrive at the intensive prepared, confident, and ready to dive deeper.

During the two-week summer intensive, the focus shifts to completing the production. Performers finalize staging, refine character and performance choices, and prepare the show for the stage. Alongside rehearsals, participants take part in artistic workshops, Theatre Sports games, and themed days, creating an immersive environment that balances discipline with creativity and fun.

The program culminates in five fully staged performances in a large, professional theatre. Family, friends, and community members are invited to celebrate not only the final production, but the growth, collaboration, and dedication behind it.

Seussical

THE MUSICAL

Havin' A Hunch (Original Broadway Cast Recording) - David Shiner (youtube)

CastBound Studios Seussical Vision

CastBound Studios reimagines Seussical through the lens of the 1920s, a world divided between glittering excess and those struggling to be seen. The Jungle of Nool becomes a lively nightclub, a place of influence, hierarchy, and control, where entertainment, status, and authority shape what people choose to believe.

Amid the music and movement, Horton, a quiet maintenance worker, stumbles upon something extraordinary: a tiny world hidden on a speck of dust. That world is Whoville — a community living on the margins, overlooked and dismissed because they are small, poor, and easy to ignore. At its center is JoJo, a curious child whose imagination and questions continually get him into trouble in a society that discourages thinking differently.

As Horton chooses to protect what others refuse to acknowledge, tensions rise between those who benefit from the way things are and those fighting to be heard. Blending jazz-age energy with Dr. Seuss’s signature whimsy, this production explores imagination, individuality, and the courage to stand up for others — reminding us that every voice matters, no matter how small.

Rehearsal & Performance

Workshops & Artistic Training

Theatre Sports & Theme Days

Our rehearsal process is designed to be challenging, supportive, and engaging. Performers work on scene study, choreography, vocal performance, and movement while developing a strong understanding of character and story. As the process continues, rehearsals focus on refining transitions, ensemble work, and performance detail — building confidence, stamina, and collaboration as the show comes together.

Throughout the program, performers take part in specialized workshops led by CastBound’s professional team. Workshops may include movement, vocal technique, character development, storytelling, stage combat, set/costume design and creative exploration. Workshop content is shaped by the interests and strengths of the cast, giving performers tools they can carry into future training and productions.

At CastBound, fun is part of the process.

Performers take part in Theatre Sports, where they are placed on teams and compete in friendly theatre games and creative challenges throughout the intensive. Points are earned along the way, and the winning team has their name engraved on the CastBound Theatre Sports Champions Trophy. To keep the experience dynamic and engaging, theme days are built into the program. These vary by production and may include days like Splash Day, Wacky Wednesday, and Movie Day. Together, Theatre Sports and theme days help build ensemble, confidence, and a rehearsal environment where performers feel supported and excited to take creative risks.

Creating a fully staged musical involves real behind-the-scenes costs, and our goal is to ensure every participant has a high-quality, safe, and inspiring experience.

CastBound operates as a not-for-profit program, and all tuition goes directly toward supporting the production and the young artists involved. We are committed to transparency and to keeping theatre as accessible as possible.

If tuition presents a challenge, families are always encouraged to reach out for a supportive, judgment-free conversation about options.

There is no payment required to audition for CastBound’s Summer Program. Signing up for an audition does not guarantee acceptance. Following auditions and callbacks, performers who are offered a place in the program will receive an email with details on how to complete payment. Tuition is only due once casting has been finalized and a spot has been accepted.

CastBound’s Summer Program is designed for the DREAMERS. Young performers who are excited to grow — not just in skill, but in confidence, curiosity, and collaboration.

• Young performers seeking a supportive, structured environment
• Students interested in acting, singing, movement, and ensemble storytelling
• Artists who enjoy balancing creative play with focused rehearsal work
• Performers ready to show up, take risks, and engage fully in the process

Dreamers face their fears, take creative risks, and reach for what hasn’t existed yet. We push young artists to fly by not only encouraging big ideas, but by helping them do, create, and act on their dreams in real, tangible ways. We know that Dreams are simply realities in waiting — you just have to be brave enough to move toward them. Whether you’re a storyteller, a creator, a wanderer, or someone still discovering your voice, this is a space to explore, imagine, and bring ideas to life — and to take meaningful steps toward the dreams that matter to you.
